Rod Correll
Family Business Consulting
Rod Correll began his management career when he took the helm of a third generation family leather tanning business in 1966. The company was distressed when he took over and
the market in which it competed was changing rapidly. He rebuilt the business and in 1979, lacking the capital to reposition it, he sold it to a publicly traded corporation.
Rod had anticipated that he would stay on with the business and help the new owner take it to the next level. At first it seemed that his expectations mirrored the buyer's plans but, when it became evident that this was not the case, he resigned and left the firm.
After this bad experience exiting the family business, Rod became passionate about creating an institute that would bring together advisors to family business. He helped form the Family Firm Institute and became its first Executive Director (www.ffi.org). By 1992, this “business” had grown to over 800 members - lawyers, accountants, financial planners, management consultants, psychologists, and other professionals with skillsets aimed at helping family business owners.
In his current role with Clarity, Rod perform an uptake role – working to build a high level situational analysis of private businesses and facilitating a dialog with the right Clarity resources.
Rod earned a BS and MBA from Yale and currently sits on its Alumni Fund Board of Directors.
