Angel Tang

China

Angel Tang maintains a rare combination of legal and general management expertise for China business development initiatives.

Angel joined the Legal Department of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) in 1972. He supported and advised various downstream and upstream business units of the company including Manufacturing, Marketing, Transportation, IP, Chemical and Treasury. In 1979, Angel represented ARCO as the first western oil company to negotiate and complete a billion dollar exploration and production agreement with state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corp.

In 1995, Angel became President of am/pm International, the Asia Pacific operation of an ARCO subsidiary. He developed and negotiated numerous projects in Asia both as a lawyer and a business executive. A sample of his accomplishments include:

• Formed several equity and cooperative retail and manufacturing joint ventures in China.
• Coordinated a $75 million investment in Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company of Ningbo, China.
• Spearheaded an aggressive business expansion, doubling POS locations in 14 countries from 840 to 1,700.
• Ran the acquisition due diligence of a $50 million public Taiwanese petrochemical company.
• Represented a large fuel dispenser manufacturer in developing and negotiating an equity joint venture with a Chinese company.
• Represented a U.S. company in contract dispute mediation against the Ministry Of Defense in Taiwan.

Angel has cultivated friendly relationships with government officials and heads of state-owned and private companies in China. These relationship can be applied for a variety of China business development activities.

Angel earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from Soochow University in Taiwan and a JD from Villanova University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and California Bars. Angel is fluent in spoken and written Chinese.
